Attentive readers have brought to my attention several errors in my review of Andrew Wilson’s translation of J.K. Rowlings “Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone”.
Ian Myles Slater wrote to say that “the Wat of Arthurian legend” does not, as I claimed, exemplify the theme of the disguised prince. It is only the Wart of T.H. White’s 1938 novel “The Sword in the Stone” who exemplifies this theme, which is not present in the traditional Arthurian material.
Dr. Orestis Karavas of the University of the Peloponnese wrote to take issue with my claim that the book’s proof-reading was good and was kind enough to send me a list of the errors he had found in the first half of the book. I have forwarded this list to Andrew Wilson, and readers who wish to use the translation in their teaching may want to obtain a copy of the list from him or from Dr. Karavas (orestis@uop.gr).
