Announcement

One of the pleasures of e-mail is that it brings people in disparate locations closer together. I've noticed over the last couple of years that Israeli scholars, separated from other western-style universities by whole time zones, have taken to the e-waves with particular delight. It is accordingly a pleasure to pass on this notice, our first e-BMCR posting to arise on the continent of Asia.

The Society for the Promotion of Classical Studies in Israel announces its twenty first annual conference on May 27th-28th, 1992, at The Hebrew University of Jerusalem (Givat Ram). The languages of the conference will be in Hebrew and English. Each paper will be allocated 20 minutes with an extra 10 minutes time allowed for discussion. One page abstracts, in Hebrew or English, may be sent to: Dr. Menahem Luz, Secretary of the SPCSI, Philosophy Dept., Haifa University, Haifa 31905, Israel. Enquiries / applications may also be forwarded by E-mail:

RHPH303@HAIFAUVM.BITNET or RHPH303%HAIFAUVM@TAUNIVM.TAU.AC.IL

The final decision concerning the acceptance of papers rests with the Programme Committee. Although applicants are expected to fund their own journey and stay in Israel, limited accommodations can be purchased at the Hebrew University Faculty Club, provided that notice is given well in advance. The secretary will be glad to offer advice concerning hotels, or the possibility of other lodging during the conference. Likewise, papers for the Society's publication, Scripta Classica Israelica may be forwarded to the committee via the secretary.
